19 on Idwala is set high amongst the natural rock formations of the reserve and accommodates up to 8 guests in absolute comfort. The lodge spans a spacious 350 m², all on a single level.

The home enjoys an exceptionally private position with uninterrupted views across untouched bushveld towards the Waterberg Mountains. Its elevated, south-facing setting really comes into its own towards late afternoon, when spectacular sunsets stretch across the mountain horizon and the bush begins to settle into evening.

The main house forms the heart of Idwala, with a spacious open-plan kitchen, dining and living area flowing onto a large entertainment patio, private saltwater swimming pool and expansive bushveld views.

It also features two large, air-conditioned en-suite bedrooms, both with their own private patios, a freestanding bath positioned beside a frameless window overlooking the bushveld, as well as indoor and outdoor showers.

The remaining two air-conditioned en-suite bedrooms are situated in a separate apartment-style building directly opposite the main entrance, merely a few steps from the main house. This provides additional privacy while keeping all four bedrooms closely connected — particularly convenient for multiple families, older children, couples travelling together, or guests who appreciate a little separation.
The lodge is extensively equipped for relaxed self-catering, complemented by modern finishings, luxurious décor and solar-powered back-up comfort. Guests can choose between indoor and outdoor braai areas, gather around the boma fire, cool off in the pool, or simply settle into the lounge and enjoy the surroundings.

There is also safe undercover parking for up to four vehicles. Days can be spent exploring Mabalingwe’s private reserve and entertainment facilities or simply enjoying the lodge, pool and spectacular views. As darkness falls, the landscape becomes completely still beneath the stars — sometimes interrupted by the distant call of wildlife or the deep roar of Mabalingwe’s lions carrying through the valley below.
